Girls Talk - Books That Make Us Bawl (If For Any Other Reason...)

I must admit that although I love reading books, it has been several years since I have encountered a book that made me cry. Personally I do not go for these types of book as I lean more on the action, suspense, thriller whodunits.

The last time I cried was while reading Emily Bronte's Wuthering Heights. Okay, I am not sure why I was crying then. You see, the book was the subject of our English Literature class in Matric/Grade 12/4th Year High School and I had been reading this book for several months already. We had to super-analyze each single thing that was happening and the story spanned almost 3 lifetimes. Ho-hum! So I could be crying because I was really getting bored and I wanted more oomph and action.

Anyway, not to take anything away from Ms. Bronte's classic novel, other than the story being a bit drawn out and dark for my liking (all that talk about vengeance and ulterior motives and manipulation!), it was a good read. I would probably just make the revenge more modern and upbeat but otherwise, Ms. Bronte turned out to be as demented and twisted as me. LOL! Also, in the end, most of the main characters were dead, so it actually turned out to be my kind of book.

P.S. Had this book in high school for almost a whole year but don't have it now....for health reasons. Don't wanna go MAAAAD!

P.P.S. It probably don't look it by this post, but this book is actually one of my favorites according to weRead :-)

For other tear-jerker novels, check out Girls Talk!

Hi MJ! I haven't read any of Emily Bronte's books, and it's the first that I've heard of her name, I will definitely have to list this one in my must-read! Happy GT! :)

Oddly enough, I was moved to tears by Justice Clarence Thomas's autobiography. I loved it, and I even wrote him a note AND he wrote back!!!! Too cool!

kalerkey. this was your kind of book because almost everyone was dead in the end. haha! natawa naman ako dun. i haven't read any of bronte's novel (i wish it was a required read in school) mainly because i really think they're tediously protracted, like you said. but if i were to read any of her novels, wuthering heights would be my first pick. might just be my type of book, too ;)
