Old Topic Reposted: A Social Network Butterfly

Originally published just last month, I can’t believe I’m re-posting this hot-off-the-press blog entry, which probably went unread anyway, haha. But with today’s Writer’s Workshop, I just couldn't resist, the entry seemed apt. (That or I'm just drumming up readership here.)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Okay, so I am not quite there yet but I feel that ever since I’ve gotten my new “always connected” HTC phone and reviving my blog….I have crossed over that line between just semi-crazed about the social networks (Facebook specifically) to full-blown internet vixen.

I have always been easily influenced by social networks, joining Friendster in 2003 and Facebook, probably around 2004. I just love that whole idea of connecting with people, especially those I’ve lost contact with over the years. And believe me, being an expat, I’ve lost a lot….but social networking has remedied that situation a bit.

I have recently joined the bandwagon of twitter-ers (Yo! Did I just invent a new word?). Much like I hated Facebook in the early years I’ve had the Twitter account but never used it because I didn’t like the way it worked. But since my HTC supports these two networks, I have started tweeting more and more. Plus, my tweets also update my Facebook, showing up as statuses….so you can be sure I will definitely check out how it all gels together.

It’s a toss-up between the computer and the cellphone but I am not shy to admit that I cannot live without my internet connection on both these items.

And why should I be ashamed when the connection has brought me that sense of being part of a revolutionary movement?

Friend me.

Follow me.

Tweet me.

I’ll be waiting.

Ah, I remember the days of Friendster! Never used mine much, but I did have an account.

I'm not much of a Social Networking butterfly myself, but I do love Facebook, Twitter, and the blogs.

Just visiting via Mama Kat's :)

Oh, I'm the same way! I swore off Twitter a long time ago, with the mentality of "Why would ANYONE want to hear what I have to say?" Now that I'm a blogger, I find it incredibly useful to network and publicize your blog posts...plus, it does help you meet people who have the same types of writing styles as you do.

Great contribution to Mama's Workshop! If you have some time later, I'd love to hear what you think about my entry!

Hi kabayan! :) Got here from Mama Kat's! :)

Anyway, I just deleted my Facebook account weeks ago. I don't like people --- especially those old meddling folks --- getting all up in my business. :(

Plus I'm not exactly cool seeing what my "frenemies"** do on a daily basis. :P

I don't use my Twitter and Facebook accounts too. I miss getting connected with others, but not too connected.

**frenemies: girlfriends of ex-boyfriends and ex-girlfriends of current boyfriend.

I'm addicted too. Not so much on Facebook anymore but moreso on Twitter and blogging! It's fun and I've met many cool people along the way.

Stopping by via Mama Kat's today!

It's funny, I've never read this post (until now obviously) but I titled mine Social Media Butterfly. Great minds? I deleted my Muspace account recently but I don't think I could let go of my Facebook. I have a few people on there that I wish I didn't but I feel mean unfriending without a solid reason (I don't like you just seems cruel).
Stopping in from Mama Kat's!

I too enjoyed fb, maybe a little too much...I guess there is such thing as too much of a good thing. I had to back off because I was spending way to much time on there. I LOVE blogging and even thought about starting up vlogging on You Tube.

I enjoyed your post on this topic, I'll be stopping back by.

Visiting from Mama Kat's New Place:)

I was a total twitter hold-out too. I just didn't get it, you know? And now I'm an addict. I'm probably going to need an intervention soon...
